Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in the city's east were experienced blackouts and dealt with interruptions to water systems, per reports from city officials.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

He said that 450 drones and several dozen projectiles targeted the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles struck energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and several individuals were hurt.

The strikes succeed periods of air raids in the region, parts of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The whole nation is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to spot.

Government officials told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to damage the national power system, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
